Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about playing, competing and growing on ECEL.

What is ECEL?
ECEL (European Competitive Esports League) is Europe's premier Free Fire competitive platform. We host tournaments, manage team contracts, run a scouting hub for free agents, and provide tools for teams to grow, recruit and compete at the highest level.
How much does it cost to use ECEL?
Creating an account, registering a team and most platform features are free. Some tournaments have an entry fee and certain cosmetic or premium features (like VIP badges) may be paid.
Which regions does ECEL serve?
We focus on Europe but accept players from any country. Tournaments may be region-restricted (EU only, regional cups, etc.) — check each tournament's rules.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. The platform is fully mobile-responsive in your browser — everything works smoothly on phones and tablets.
How do I create an account?
Click Register, choose Player, fill in your in-game name, Free Fire ID, email and password, then confirm your email. You're in.
I forgot my password. What now?
Go to Forgot Password, enter your email, and follow the reset link we send you.
Can I change my in-game name or Free Fire ID?
You can edit your in-game name from your profile. To change your Free Fire ID, submit an Account Change Request from your profile settings — admins will review it to prevent abuse.
How do I get the verified (blue check) badge?
Verified badges are granted by admins to players with proven competitive history, content creators, partners and official team staff. Build your reputation on the platform — earn placements, win prizes, behave well — and you may be approached.
How do I register a team?
From your dashboard, click Register Team. You'll need a team name, tag, country, logo (with transparent background — it's used on contracts) and the in-game IDs of your members. Your team becomes active after admin approval.
Why must my team logo have a transparent background?
Your logo is printed on official ECEL contract PDFs. A transparent PNG or SVG looks clean and professional, while a logo with a white/colored square will look bad on documents.
How do I add or remove players from my team?
Only the captain and co-leaders can manage the roster. From the Team Dashboard, use the Members panel to invite players, change roles, or remove members.
Can I have substitutes?
Yes. Add substitutes through the roster. Most tournaments allow a defined number of subs per match — check tournament rules.
What's the difference between captain, co-leader, manager and member?
Captain — full control of the team. Co-leader — manage roster, chat, recruit. Manager — handle scheduling and admin tasks. Member — play, chat, react. Coaches and strategists have specialized permissions for tactics.
How do I register my team for a tournament?
Go to Tournaments, open the one you want, and click Register. If there's an entry fee, you'll be redirected to payment first. Only the captain can register the team.
When is the registration deadline?
Each tournament has its own deadline displayed on its page. Registrations close automatically — late entries are not accepted.
How are prize pools paid out?
Prize pools are paid to the team captain (or designated payout contact) within 14 business days after tournament results are finalized and disputes resolved.
What happens if a team forfeits or no-shows?
No-show teams lose the match by default and may be disqualified from the tournament. Repeat offenders risk platform bans. See tournament rules for details.
How do I open a dispute about a match?
From your team dashboard or the tournament bracket, use the Open Dispute button on the relevant match. Attach evidence (screenshots, video). Admins review and respond.
What is the Scouting Hub?
Scouting is where teams find players and players showcase themselves. Filter by nationality, role, market value, language, age and more. Use the quick Free Agents button to see only players without a team.
How is a player's market value calculated?
Market value is a dynamic score built from in-game stats (kills, K/D, win rate), tournament results, individual awards, recent form, and platform activity. It updates automatically.
How do I appear as a Free Agent?
If you don't have a current team, you'll appear automatically. You can also toggle Looking for Team in your profile so recruiters know you're available.
Why do some players have a gold "showcase" card?
The premium gold scouting card is exclusive to players with the VIP badge. Other players get a clean standard card.
How do contract offers work?
Teams send a formal contract offer (duration, role, salary, bonuses) to a player from the scouting page. The player receives it in Contract Offers and can accept, reject, or counter-offer. Accepted contracts are signed digitally and produce an official PDF.
Is the contract legally binding?
ECEL contracts are binding within the platform — they govern roster movements, payouts and disputes inside ECEL. They are not a substitute for a notarized civil contract for large transfers; for those, consult a lawyer in your jurisdiction.
Can I leave my team before my contract expires?
Yes, but you may owe a release/buyout fee specified in your contract. The team can also release you early at no cost if both sides agree.
What happens when my contract expires?
You automatically become a free agent and reappear in the Scouting Hub. The platform notifies both you and your team before expiry so you can renew, transfer or part ways.
What is the VIP badge?
The VIP badge marks elite/featured players. VIP players get a premium gold scouting card, priority placement in lists, a verified mark on chat and profile, and access to exclusive cosmetic perks.
How do I get a VIP badge?
VIP badges are awarded by admins, earned through outstanding tournament performance, or unlocked via partner programs. Watch announcements for promotions.
What is the daily spin?
A free once-per-day reward wheel where you can win points, badges, cosmetic items or boosts. Spin from your dashboard.
What are missions and how do I complete them?
Missions are recurring objectives (play matches, win tournaments, update your profile, etc.) that reward XP, points and unlockables. Track progress on your dashboard.
What is the Hall of Legends?
The Hall of Legends is ECEL's permanent tribute to the players, teams and personalities who shaped European Free Fire. Inductees include world champions, regional legends, pioneers and content creators who defined eras of competitive play.
How does someone get inducted into the Hall of Legends?
Inductions are decided by ECEL's editorial council based on competitive achievements, longevity, community impact and historical significance. New legends are announced at the annual ECEL Gala.
What is the ECEL Gala?
The ECEL Gala is our annual awards night celebrating the best players, teams, coaches, plays and moments of the season. It's the biggest community event of the year — think "The Game Awards" but for European Free Fire.
What award categories does the Gala have?
Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Best Play, Best Signature Moment, Community Choice, Content Creator of the Year, Comeback of the Year, and more. Full list is published on the Gala page each season.
Can I vote at the ECEL Gala?
Yes — Community Choice awards are voted by all registered players. Other categories combine community votes with a jury of analysts, casters and former pros.
What are Signature Moments?
Signature Moments are iconic clips (clutches, comebacks, plays of the year) preserved on the platform. They're tied to specific players/teams, voted on by the community, and the best ones are featured at the Gala.
What is the ECEL Partner Program?
The ECEL Partner Program is for content creators, streamers, brands and esports organizations who want to collaborate with us. Partners get promotional support, early access to features, custom branding and revenue-share opportunities.
Who can apply to become a partner?
Content creators with an active Free Fire audience, esports organizations, gaming brands, peripheral/apparel sponsors, betting/fantasy platforms, and educational institutions. Each application is reviewed individually.
How do I apply?
Visit the Partner page and submit the application form with your channel/brand info, audience metrics, collaboration ideas and contact details. We respond within 7 business days.
What benefits do partners receive?
Featured placement on the platform, dedicated partner badge, access to our team and player pool for collaborations, co-branded tournaments, revenue share on referred users/sponsorships, and direct line to ECEL staff.
Is there a cost to become a partner?
No upfront cost — partnerships are revenue-share or barter based. Premium sponsorship tiers (logo on tournaments, brand integrations) are negotiated individually.
What is ECEL Trainer?
ECEL Trainer is our upcoming coaching & development hub. Players will be able to book sessions with certified coaches, follow structured training programs, review their matches with experts, and track measurable improvement.
When does ECEL Trainer launch?
ECEL Trainer is currently in development (Coming Soon). Beta access will be offered first to VIP players and tournament participants. Follow the news page for announcements.
How do I become a Trainer/Coach on ECEL?
Apply through the Trainer Volunteer program — you'll need verifiable competitive or coaching experience, a clean record, and willingness to follow ECEL's coaching guidelines. Selected trainers are interviewed and onboarded.
Will training sessions cost money?
Some volunteer-led sessions and clinics will be free for the community. Personalized 1-on-1 sessions with verified pro coaches will be paid, with prices set by each coach (ECEL takes a small platform fee).
What are Player Cards?
Each player has a stylized digital Player Card showing their stats, country, role, market value and achievements. Cards are auto-generated and update as you progress. VIP players get an exclusive gold premium card design.
Can I download or share my card?
Yes — from your profile, click "Share Card" to download a PNG or get a direct link you can post on social media. Tag @ECEL when you share!
What are Badges and how do I earn them?
Badges are achievement icons displayed on your profile and card — for winning tournaments, completing missions, founder status, partner status, tournament MVP, etc. Some are earned automatically, some are awarded by admins.
Are there team cards too?
Yes. Each registered team has its own card with logo, roster, country, total winnings, trophies and history — perfect for sharing or using on social media.
What is the Server Chat?
Server Chat is the public community chat for all ECEL players. Talk strategy, find scrim partners, discuss tournaments, and meet the community in real time.
What is Team Chat?
Team Chat is a private real-time chat available inside each Team Dashboard, visible only to team members. Use it for tactics, scheduling and internal communication.
Can I send private messages to other players?
Yes — open any player's profile and click Message to start a Conversation. DMs respect privacy settings; some users may restrict DMs to teammates only.
What is the Activity Feed?
The Activity Feed shows recent platform-wide events: new tournaments, contract signings, transfers, big upsets, new Hall of Legends inductees and more. It's a live pulse of European Free Fire.
Can I edit or delete my chat messages?
Yes — hover over your own message and use the edit / delete icons. Edited messages show an "(edited)" tag. Deleted messages are removed for everyone.
Who writes the news articles?
The News section is run by ECEL's editorial team — match recaps, transfer reports, interviews, opinion pieces and tournament previews. We also occasionally feature guest columns from community partners.
Can I submit an article or story idea?
Yes — pitch us at news@ecel.gg. We're especially interested in player interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, scene analysis and historical retrospectives.
How do I stay updated?
Check the News page, enable email notifications in your settings, follow our social media, or join the Server Chat where breaking news is announced first.
What payment methods does ECEL accept?
Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), PayPal, and select regional methods depending on your country. Tournament entry fees and VIP upgrades both use the same secure checkout.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. We never store full card numbers on our servers — payments are processed by PCI-DSS certified providers (Stripe / PayPal). Your card data goes directly to them through encrypted channels.
How do I receive prize money?
Prize payouts are sent to the team captain via PayPal or bank transfer (your choice in Team Settings → Payouts). Captains are responsible for distributing the share to teammates per the team's internal agreement.
Can I get a refund?
No. Once your team is registered and the tournament entry fee is paid, the payment is final and non-refundable — even if you withdraw before the deadline, get disqualified, or no-show. Refunds are issued only if ECEL cancels the tournament entirely. VIP and cosmetic purchases are also non-refundable once granted.
Do I need to pay taxes on my winnings?
Yes — prize money is taxable income in most jurisdictions. ECEL does not withhold taxes (except where legally required). You're responsible for declaring winnings according to your country's laws. Consult a local tax advisor for large prizes.
How do I report a player?
In any chat, click the report icon on the message. On a profile page, use the report option in the menu. Provide evidence — false reports may be penalized.
What gets you banned?
Cheating/hacking, account sharing in ranked tournaments, racism/hate speech, harassment, match-fixing, fake identity, multi-accounting, or repeated no-shows. Bans range from temporary to permanent depending on severity.
What happens to my data if I'm banned?
Banned accounts are anonymized in public views but your account record is retained for moderation purposes. Your team is notified and may need to replace you on its roster.
How do I appeal a ban?
Email appeals@ecel.gg with your account email, the date of the ban, and your reasoning. Appeals are reviewed by a different admin than the one who issued the ban.
How do I delete my account?
From Settings → Account → Delete. Note: active contracts and tournament registrations must be resolved first. Deletion is permanent after a 14-day grace period.
